Security adviser: Cyberthreats keep growing

Former White House cybersecurity adviser Howard Schmidt told the House of Lords this week that businesses of all sizes face an increased threat from cybercriminals, who now have the power to attack key parts of the Internet.


Businesses both large and small have to keep a constant eye on their internet security. With more and more ways to access the internet and an ever-growing number of machines that can access the internet, companies must be on their toes when handling their internet. In the article, businesses face threats from cybercriminals of all sorts, including foreign governments. It states that if a government can spend 5 million pounds for a hacker to gain valuable information, why spend 20 million pounds on research and development? Another form of attack is with spam mail and denial-of-service attacks. If a large enough network of compromised computers begins a denial of service attack, it can shut down the internet for 2 to 3 hours. It's a fact that as a business grows, so must their security protection with regards to their internet.
